Tokyo, December 15, 2017 – Rakuten LIFULL STAY Co., Ltd., a Rakuten Group company providing vacation rental services, and HyAS & Co. Inc., a management consulting firm specializing in the housing, real estate and construction industries, reached an agreement today over a business partnership to launch a brand of houses designed specifically for use as vacation rentals.
Rakuten LIFULL STAY is currently developing a range of sub-brands for Rakuten STAY, its vacation rental branding and operational support service offered in conjunction with Rakuten, Inc. The first sub-brand, which is for detached house-style rentals, is Rakuten STAY HOUSE. Other sub-brands will follow, including for resort hotels and capsule hotels.
Based on this new partnership, Rakuten STAY HOUSE will be combined with one of HyAS’s high-performance designer home brands, WILL STYLE, to form the joint brand “Rakuten STAY HOUSE × WILL STYLE.” Designed specifically for use as vacation rentals, Rakuten STAY HOUSE × WILL STYLE houses will be inexpensive to build and feature comfortable living spaces with outstanding insulation and soundproofing. Initially, they will be based on WILL STYLE’s flagship unicube design*, with a more diverse design lineup planned for the future. Sale of the houses will commence in February 2018 through HyAS’s partner companies.

The two companies are also jointly developing a business development manual that consolidates information like sales know-how and management techniques based upon their past track records. It will be provided to HyAS partner companies starting in February 2018.
Rakuten LIFULL STAY and HyAS hope to create a new market for detached house-style accommodations in an effort to counter the contraction currently seen in the Japanese housing industry, which has seen a decline in the number of new house orders.
* The unicube design is the most popular of the standard types of designer home within the WILL STYLE series. The design allows two houses and four car parking spaces to be arranged on a 182 square meter lot. It offers efficient layouts that can be situated on lots facing in any direction.

WILL STYLE
HyAS is a management consulting firm that specializes in the housing, real estate and construction industries.
