ORGANIZATIONS
Company and Group Headquarters Structure
Rakuten’s organizational structure consists of several companies
that operate service businesses in conjunction with the group headquarters,
which is responsible for cross-group organizations and corporate functions.
Rakuten currently operates four companies—Commerce & Marketing, FinTech, Communications & Energy, and Investment—each of which operates its own service business. The larger-scale services, such as Rakuten Ichiba and Rakuten Mobile, have their own corporate functions.
HEADQUARTERS
Rakuten’s group headquarters includes the corporate division with head office functions, such as General Affairs, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, and Legal Affairs, as well as the Development (Engineering) Division and the Strategy and Marketing Division. It does not belong to a specific business or service and is responsible for enhancing the organizational strength of the entire group.

focusing on internet services related to shopping, lifestyle and leisure.

We offer solutions to support the marketing and media sectors
leveraging Rakuten's data and AI capabilities to best address our clients' challenges.
INTERNATIONAL & SPORTS
Manages Rakuten’s businesses in the U.S. and Europe,
along with sports-related businesses, including professional teams and sports partnerships.
COMMUNICATIONS & ENERGY
Development of digital content-related services, such as video streaming services,
mobile business (MNO and MVNO), information and telecommunications,
and electricity- and energy-related services.
FINTECH GROUP
Provides FinTech (financial tech) services, such as credit card and other payment services,
points-based rewards programs, internet banking services, securities trading services and insurance services.

GROUP HEADQUARTERS
Group Company Division
The division that reports directly to the president and is responsible for creating new businesses and formulating strategies for large-scale, cross-organizational projects involving the entire group.
Finance & Accounting Division
The division that engages in a wide range of businesses within the Rakuten Group and provides financial and accounting-related services and solutions to each business entity.
Operation Division
The division that engages with a vast array of businesses across the Rakuten Group and provides services and solutions for strategy, human resources, general affairs and corporate communications.
Marketing Division
The division responsible for improving the customer experience and brand value of the entire Rakuten Group while leading Rakuten’s brand, creative, marketing and membership strategies globally.
Global Ad Division
The division responsible for maximizing advertising efficiency, sales, and profits by utilizing Rakuten IDs, advertising inventory and data as an ad agency, and ad platforms for the entire Rakuten Group.
Technology Platforms Division
The division responsible for maintaining the networks and infrastructure that form the basis of Rakuten’s various services as well as that of Rakuten IDs, payment systems and other integrated platforms for the Rakuten economic zone.
AI&Data Division
The division responsible for supporting the development related to AI and Data by analyzing data of various Rakuten services and providing solutions to improve services.
Technology Management Division
This division is responsible for providing Corporate IT, Cyber Security and Privacy Governance to the entire Rakuten Group. It is also responsible for strategy, finance and HR for Rakuten’s Tech Divisions. It leads and supports Group-wide and Tech Division operations.
Group Sales Division
This division is responsible for driving customer acquisition for Rakuten Group’s services, such as mobile solutions, by consolidating corporate customer data and initiatives across services on a regional basis.
