  • MSCI Indexes

    Rakuten has been selected for the MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index (WIN) and MSCI Japan Empowering Women (WIN) Select Index, which list Japanese companies that exhibit a commitment towards promoting and maintaining high level of gender diversity among their workforce, while maintaining superior financial quality.

  • FTSE4Good Index Series

    In 2022 and for the fourth consecutive year, Rakuten was selected as a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series and the FTSE Blossom Japan Index published by FTSE Russell, an investment index calculator wholly owned by the London Stock Exchange. The index consists of companies that demonstrate strong ESG practices. We were also selected as a constituent for the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index, which the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) has adopted as a benchmark for its passive investment since March 2022.
  • Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

    In 2021, Rakuten was selected for the second time as a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. It was also selected as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index for the third consecutive year. These indices were jointly developed by S&P Dow Jones Indices and Switzerland-based RobecoSAM and are composed of listed companies which excel in long-term sustainability strategies and practices.
  • S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index

    Developed by Japan Exchange Group, Tokyo Stock Exchange and S&P Dow Jones Indices, the Index is designed to measure the performance of companies in the Tokyo Stock Price Index, while overweighting or underweighting those that have lower or higher levels of carbon emissions per unit of revenue. Rakuten is part of the first decile, considered as highly carbon efficient, among the Retailing constituents (consecutive inclusion).
  • CDP

    In 2021, Rakuten was given the ranting of A- in the Climate Change survey conducted by the global environmental non-profit organization CDP. CDP is widely recognized as a global standard for climate-related information disclosure by businesses. More than 13,000 companies representing over 64% of global market capitalization answered the 2021 CDP survey.
  • Eco-First Certification

    In 2021, Rakuten Group, Inc. was certified as an Eco-First company by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment. The Eco-First Program recognizes companies that are engaged in “advanced and independent industry-leading business activities” with regard to the environment. Upon obtaining this certification and as part of its “Eco-First Commitment” (Japanese), Rakuten has promised the Minister of the Environment that it will carry out environmental protection initiatives relevant to its different services.
  • Work with PRIDE Index

    In 2021 and for the sixth consecutive year, Rakuten achieved Gold Level in the PRIDE Index of “Work with Pride," an organization that promotes LGBT diversity-management initiatives in Japan.
  • White 500

    Rakuten Group, Inc. was recognized as a White 500 company under the "2022 Certified Health & Productivity Management Organization Recognition Program", by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi, for its efforts to enhance employee wellness. It is the second consecutive year for Rakuten Group, Inc. to be recognized by this program.
  • Sports Yell Company

    Rakuten was certified by the Japan Sports Agency as a Sports Yell Company 2022, a certification that recognizes companies promoting sports activities to improve employees’ health. Were especially recognized our initiatives leveraging technologies that enhance awareness of healthy lifestyles, such as physical stretching sessions at weekly morning meetings attended by all employees, online fitness programs, events that promote exercise using a mobile application, online health seminars, etc.
