  • MSCI Indexes

    Rakuten has been selected for the MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index (WIN) and MSCI Japan Empowering Women (WIN) Select Index, which list Japanese companies that exhibit a commitment towards promoting and maintaining high level of gender diversity among their workforce, while maintaining superior financial quality.

  • FTSE4Good Index Series

    In 2021 and for the third consecutive year, Rakuten was selected as a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series published by FTSE Russell, an investment index calculator wholly owned by the London Stock Exchange. The index consists of companies that demonstrate strong ESG practices. We were also selected for the FTSE Blossom Japan Index which consists of Japanese companies that demonstrate strong ESG practices.
  • Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

    In 2020, Rakuten was selected for the first time as a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. It was also selected as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index for the second consecutive year. These indices were jointly developed by S&P Dow Jones Indices and Switzerland-based RobecoSAM and are composed of listed companies which excel in long-term sustainability strategies and practices.
  • S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index

    Developed by Japan Exchange Group, Tokyo Stock Exchange and S&P Dow Jones Indices, the S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index is designed to measure the performance of companies in the Tokyo Stock Price Index, while overweighting or underweighting those that have lower or higher levels of carbon emissions per unit of revenue. Rakuten is part of the first decile, considered as highly carbon efficient, among the Retailing constituents (consecutive inclusion).
  • CDP

    In 2020, Rakuten was selected for the first time for the CDP Climate Change A List, the highest rating in the climate-related investigation conducted by the global environmental non-profit organization CDP. CDP is widely recognized as a global standard for climate-related information disclosure by businesses. Among over 9,600 companies disclosed in the latest 2020 survey, the largest number in its history, 270 were acknowledged as the CDP Climate Change A List.
  • Eco-First Certification

    In 2020, Rakuten Group, Inc. was certified as an Eco-First company by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment. The Eco-First Program recognizes companies that are engaged in “advanced and independent industry-leading business activities” with regard to the environment. Upon obtaining this certification and as part of its “Eco-First Commitment” (Japanese), Rakuten has promised the Minister of the Environment that it will carry out environmental protection initiatives relevant to its different services.
  • Work with PRIDE Index

    In 2020 and for the fifth consecutive year, Rakuten achieved Gold Level in the PRIDE Index of “work with Pride,” an organization that promotes LGBT diversity-management initiatives in Japan.
  • Certified Health & Productivity Management Organization

    Rakuten was recognized by the 2021 Certified Health & Productivity Management Organization Recognition Program, by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi, for its efforts to enhance employee wellness. The program recognizes outstanding enterprises engaging in efforts for health and productivity management.
  • Sports Yell Company

    Rakuten was certified by the Japan Sports Agency as a Sports Yell Company 2021, a certification that recognizes companies promoting sports activities to improve employees’ health. Were especially recognized our initiatives leveraging technologies that enhance awareness of healthy lifestyles, such as physical stretching sessions at weekly morning meetings attended by all employees, online fitness programs, events that promote exercise using a mobile application, online health seminars, etc.
  • Annual HR Technology Awards

    In 2020, Rakuten’s utilization of technology to realize a fully remote training environment for up to 750 new graduate employees in around just one month was acknowledged with the Special Award at the 5th annual HR Technology Awards. They recognize outstanding efforts of technology and big data analytics in the human resource field in Japan, and are sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
  • Nihon no Jinji-bu HR-Award 2020

    Rakuten’s "Wellness Empowerment Project" that helped raise employees’ awareness about physical and mental health was recognized by the HR Awards 2020 organized by the Nihon no Jinji-bu, a network that connects business people with human resources related services and solutions, and supported by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan. Rakuten was nominated as one of the 13 companies in the corporate HR category among more than 300 entries.
