Rakuten Clutch Now Accepting Donations for 2022 Afghanistan Earthquake Emergency Relief Fund

Tokyo, July 12, 2022 – The Rakuten Group wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to all those who have been affected by the recent earthquake in Eastern Afghanistan and the surrounding regions in June 2022.

Rakuten Group, Inc. is now accepting donations for the 2022 Afghanistan Earthquake Emergency Relief Fund through its online donation system, the Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund.

The Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund is an initiative launched in 2011 following the Great East Japan Earthquake. As more and more aid continued to flow in from both domestic and international sources, many requests were received to be allowed to make donations online. Over the years many have donated through the fund, and this support has been directed primarily towards raising funds to provide disaster relief both in Japan and internationally.

Those wishing to make donations can choose from a variety of payment methods including Rakuten Points, Rakuten Card, VISA and Mastercard credit cards, and cash transfers to a designated Rakuten Bank account, as indicated below.

All contributions will donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society’s emergency relief fund for the 2022 Afghanistan Earthquake, to be used to support those in the affected regions as well as provide humanitarian aid via the Red Cross in Afghanistan. Rakuten plans to accept donations through August 18, 2022*.

The Rakuten Group is committed to maximizing the potential of the internet to empower the provision of aid to those in need, including charitable activities.

*The donation period may be extended depending on future developments.
