Tokyo, July 1, 2022 – Rakuten Bank, Ltd. today announced that its total balance of deposits (non-consolidated) has surpassed eight trillion yen as of the end of June 2022.

Rakuten Bank has seen increased use as it offers the convenience of an entirely-online banking service, never requiring a visit to a physical location. Rakuten Bank became the first online bank in Japan*1 to surpass 12 million accounts*2 in January 2022, and the number of Rakuten Bank accounts opening continues to grow steadily. Through cross-use with other Rakuten services, Rakuten Bank is endeavoring to offer added convenience and utility to its users.

Additionally, Rakuten Bank’s total balance of deposits (non-consolidated) surpassed seven trillion yen in December 2021, and the number of public utilities offering Rakuten Bank as an option for automatic money transfers is increasing. Other notable recent initiatives include an entertainment service*4 collaboration in March 2022 with THE NISHI-NIPPON CITY BANK, LTD. offering a Rakuten Bank account linkage service for immediate usage fee payments.
