Tokyo, August, 1, 2019 – Rakuten, Inc. today announced plans to open two new logistics centers for Rakuten Super Logistics, the comprehensive logistics service operated by Rakuten. The company plans to lease all floors of “Landport Higashi-Narashino,” a large-scale logistics facility developed by Nomura Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., as well as several floors of “Nissay Logistics Center Yokohama-Machida*1,” a large-scale logistics facility managed by Daiwa Corporation., Ltd. These facilities are expected to commence operations in mid-2020 as Rakuten Fulfillment Center Narashino and Rakuten Fulfillment Center Chuorinkan.
Rakuten Super Logistics offers comprehensive logistics services ranging from product storage to shipment for merchants on the Rakuten Ichiba marketplace. To date, Rakuten has established logistics centers in Ichikawa City and Nagareyama City in Chiba Prefecture, Kawanishi City and Amagasaki City in Hyogo Prefecture*2 and Hirakata City in Osaka Prefecture, and has worked to contribute to the stable e-commerce operations of its merchants by providing high quality logistics services. With utilization capacity at Rakuten’s existing logistics centers expected to reach full capacity in mid-2020, the company has decided to open two new logistics centers in order to further increase Rakuten Super Logistics’ processing capabilities.
Rakuten has established the “One Delivery” vision for a comprehensive logistics and delivery service for merchants on the Rakuten Ichiba marketplace, with the aim of addressing the issues currently faced by the logistics industry in Japan. The establishment of the two new logistics centers is part of this vision.

The new facility in Narashino City, Chiba Prefecture has a total floor area of approximately 74,000 m2. Located about 1.4 km from Yachiyodai Station on the Keisei Main Line, about 7 km from the Chiba-kita IC on the Higashi-Kanto Expressway, and about 8 km from the Hanawa IC on the Keiyo Road, it offers excellent accessibility through the Higashi-Kanto Expressway, Keiyo Road, National Route No. 16, the Tokyo Gaikan Expressway, and other routes, making it an ideal delivery hub. Within the facility, security in the common areas and on the premises is maintained through security cameras and a disaster control center. The new facility in Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture, has a total floor area of approximately 95,000 m2. At 13 minutes on foot from Chuorinkan Station on the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line and the Odakyu Enoshima Line, and about 4 km from the Yokohama Machida IC on the Tomei Expressway, the location of the facility offers excellent access. The facility is equipped with emergency power generators, and also provides space for the installation of emergency power generators for tenants. It offers an extensive range of facilities designed for the safety and comfort of employees, including a cafeteria within the building, and a building safety assessment support system in the event of a large-scale earthquake.
