Rakuten and Rakuten Data Marketing Launch O2O Marketing Solution “RMP - Go! Spot”

- Enables effective measurement of online advertising conversions at brick-and-mortar stores -

Tokyo, April 5, 2018 – Rakuten, Inc. and Rakuten Data Marketing, Inc. today launched an online-to-offline (“O2O”) marketing solution, RMP (Rakuten Marketing Platform) - Go! Spot, which uses location information to gauge offline conversions from online advertising.

RMP - Go! Spot utilizes various channels and Rakuten ID-based data to make possible location-targeted advertisements designed to inform users of special offers and campaigns taking place at brick-and-mortar stores in their vicinity. The effectiveness of the promotions can then be measured by visitor numbers or other data gathered at the store. Grounded in analysis of big data gleaned from Rakuten’s points rewards app “Super Point Screen” and the store visitation points rewards app “Rakuten Check,” the new service allows not only effective promotional campaigns but also valuable insights into users’ offline activity that can contribute to improving O2O marketing strategies.

In a preliminary trial of the service conducted for the Duskin Co., Ltd.-operated Mister Donut chain, advertisements for new products were delivered to users of the “Super Point Screens” app using location information to achieve greater relevance for customers than in previous promotions. At the same time, Mister Donut is a member of the Rakuten Point Card service, so data analysis could be conducted to measure whether targeted users responded to the advertisements by making purchases in the store. Going forward, Rakuten and Rakuten Data Marketing plan to expand RMP-Go! Spot functions to realize even more comprehensive O2O marketing solutions, combining promotions encouraging more in-store purchases and more store visits.

Rakuten and Rakuten Data Marketing will continue to break new ground in developing innovative new data-driven solutions.
