TOKYO, Dec. 1, 2017 – Rakuten, Inc. today began accepting donations for the Children’s Future Support Fund through its internet charity service, the Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund.
The Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund is Rakuten’s internet charity service which allows donations to be made using Rakuten Super Points, or by credit card or bank transfer. Rakuten will collect donations for the Children’s Future Support Fund using its Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund during the month of December. This donation drive is an officially certified initiative of Giving December, a national campaign in which NPOs, universities, corporations and governmental organizations are encouraged to collect donations with the aim of realizing a more joyful society through charity.
Established in October 2015, the Children’s Future Support Fund is aimed at supporting the needs of children born into poverty. It is part of the national government’s National Movement to Support Children’s Futures. Funds donated to the Children’s Future Support Fund will be directed to Japan-based NPOs and other grassroots organizations working with underprivileged children. In 2016, 86 organizations throughout Japan received funds for such activities such as supporting children’s diners, learning, and shelters.
Until now the Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund has acted as a channel for delivering donations to a wide range of causes, such as recovery from natural disasters and conservation. With the mission of empowering Japan, Rakuten will continue its endeavors to invigorate society along with its customers.
