The Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund Begins Accepting Donations for the Children's Future Support Fund

- Donations to be collected through December as an officially certified Giving December initiative -

TOKYO, Dec. 1, 2017 – Rakuten, Inc. today began accepting donations for the Children’s Future Support Fund through its internet charity service, the Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund.

The Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund is Rakuten’s internet charity service which allows donations to be made using Rakuten Super Points, or by credit card or bank transfer. Rakuten will collect donations for the Children’s Future Support Fund using its Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund during the month of December. This donation drive is an officially certified initiative of Giving December, a national campaign in which NPOs, universities, corporations and governmental organizations are encouraged to collect donations with the aim of realizing a more joyful society through charity.

Established in October 2015, the Children’s Future Support Fund is aimed at supporting the needs of children born into poverty. It is part of the national government’s National Movement to Support Children’s Futures. Funds donated to the Children’s Future Support Fund will be directed to Japan-based NPOs and other grassroots organizations working with underprivileged children. In 2016, 86 organizations throughout Japan received funds for such activities such as supporting children’s diners, learning, and shelters.

Until now the Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund has acted as a channel for delivering donations to a wide range of causes, such as recovery from natural disasters and conservation. With the mission of empowering Japan, Rakuten will continue its endeavors to invigorate society along with its customers.

・Donation acceptance period: December 1st – December 28th, 2017

(1) Donating with Rakuten Super Points
A donation of one Rakuten Super Point is equivalent to one yen. Donations can be made starting from as little as one point.
Conditions of use:
・Points used for donations count towards the total that can be used for “Point Accepting Services” in a single month. Diamond rank members may use up to 500,000 points, and other members may use up to 100,000 points.

(2) Donating by Credit Card
Donations can be made with various credit cards starting from 100 yen.
Conditions of use:
・Credit card donations can be made starting from 100 yen, in one yen units.
Rakuten Card, VISA, and Mastercard are accepted credit cards. This service can also be used by non-Rakuten members.
When making donations with cards other than the Rakuten Card, the settlement fee determined by each credit card company will be subtracted from the amount donated. When making donations with the Rakuten Card, the total amount will be donated.

(3) Accepting Cash Donations through Bank Transfers to Rakuten Bank
Donations can be made 24 hours a day using a Rakuten Bank account. Customers who do not hold a Rakuten Bank account can also make donations through a direct transfer.

* No transfer fee is applied when transferring from a Rakuten Bank account.
* The transfer fee set by each bank will be applied when transferring from a non-Rakuten Bank account.
* The Clutch Special Charity Fund will not issue a receipt. Donations to the fund are not tax deductible.
* Rakuten Super Points will not be issued for donations made using this service.
