Tokyo, June 12, 2017 - Rakuten Inc. today announced that the new company to be formed through the merger of Rakuten’s wholly-owned subsidiaries Kenko.com, Inc. and Soukai Drug. Co., Ltd. on July 1, 2017 will be named Rakuten Direct, Inc. Noriaki Komori will assume the role of Representative Director & CEO at the new company.
Rakuten Direct, Inc. will provide e-commerce services for daily necessities. Through this merger, the new company will strive to realize improved efficiency in logistics infrastructure and information systems, expand the range of products offered and further improve customer service.
