Minshu Diary to Offer New Functions to Businesses Based on Big Data

- Supporting recruitment of new graduates by companies
registered with Minshu Link social network site -

Tokyo, December 1, 2015 - Rakuten, Inc. today announced that it will utilize big data on Minshu Link, the social network site which is part of its word-of-mouth career information platform, Minshu Diary, and provide new functions that allow registered businesses to more efficiently contact suitable students to business clients from mid-December.

Minshu Link is a social networking site for students seeking employment to exchange information on companies and careers. Members participate using their real names. By registering on the service, companies and organizations can browse information such as the university or TOEIC scores of students and their online posts, and communicate directly with students through “scout mail” to invite prospective employees to company presentations, for example.

In the new functions, companies can add conditions that narrow down the number of prospective employees to send “scout mails” to, based on “pass rates” and “acceptance rates”* from the similarities between current students and previous successful recruitment examinees and students who had accepted job offers, calculated by the analysis by artificial intelligence (AI) of big data on students accumulated by Minshu Diary. The data analysis enabled by AI allows registered companies to more efficiently interact with students than before, and more accurately target the student demographic sought by the company.

Minshu Diary will continue to provide support the recruitment activities of companies in the future.

* “Pass rate” is the likelihood that a student will pass a recruitment exam by a company, while “acceptance rate” is the likelihood that a student will accept a job offer by a company.
