Rakuten Mobile Begins Offering Services on
Huawei’s Mate S Smartphone and
MediaPad M2 8.0 Tablet Device

Tokyo, November 26, 2015 - Fusion Communications Corp., the telecommunications service provider of the Rakuten Group, today announced that it will being offering Huawei Technologies Japan K.K.’s latest smartphone, the “Mate S,” and tablet device, the “MediaPad M2 8.0”.

As of today, customers can make advanced reservations for Rakuten Mobile SIM card and device sets containing the “Mate S,” with the handsets scheduled to ship on December 3, 2015. Mobile Number Portability (MNP)^*1 applications will be accepted from December 2, 2015. Advanced reservations for the MediaPad M2 8.0 will begin on December 1, 2015, with units scheduled to ship in early December.

“Mate S”
The “Mate S” is Huawei’s latest smartphone and features cutting edge technologies that enhance the user experience. The fingerprint sensor on the back of the device not only unlocks the phone, but can be used to access frequently used features with one hand, such as flicking through images displayed on the screen, operating the camera, or answering calls. Additionally, the use of Knuckle Sense technology makes it possible to launch an app by writing the designated letter on the screen using your knuckle or even cut and paste images into a shape you like. The device’s camera also features “Professional Mode,” which allows the user to finely adjust the cameras optics, color hues, and shutter speed just like a manual camera.

The leather case included with the “Mate S” makes it possible to check the time while the case is still closed. In the launch campaign for the “Mate S,” customers who purchase the device with Rakuten Mobile by 9:59 on January 15, 2016, can receive a discount of 15,000 yen on the device, reducing the cost from 79,800 yen to 64,800 yen.

“MediaPad M2 8.0”
The ”MediaPad M2 8.0” is a tablet device that allows users to enjoy their video, music, and other content, whenever and wherever. The 8-inch full HD display automatically adjusts the color and contrast based on surrounding environment, making it possible to easily view bright, crisp images even outdoors on a sunny day. Huawei’s own super surround sound technology “Super Wide Sound (SWS 2.0)” and dual speakers together deliver a richer, more immersive audio experience. The use of Clari-Fi^TM technology by Harman International Industries, Incorporated of the United States also ensures high quality, clear sound by restoring ranges lost during the compression of music data. This marks the first for Rakuten Mobile to offer a tablet device made by Huawei Technologies.

Customers who purchase the MediaPad M2 8.0 for Rakuten Mobile can receive a free smart cover as a special bonus.

*The device is not sold stand alone.
*The method of calculation of consumption tax varies depending on the payment method.
* The total amount to be paid in installation payments is the same as that with the lump-sum payment not including tax. There are no processing fees with the installation payments, but users can only use a Rakuten Card with this option. The amount paid in each installation payment is an amount obtained by taking the purchase price of the device (including tax) and subtracting the amount paid by Rakuten Super Points, then dividing this amount evenly into 24 installments. In addition, fractions are rounded up and added to the first payment amount.
