TOKYO, February 1, 2013 - Rakuten, Inc. announced today that Rakuten Solar, the company’s solar power system sales service has launched “Rakuten Solar Home Warranties” as a supplementary damage compensation service to enhance its solar power system packages.
This damage compensation service is incidental to all products for solar power systems for which Rakuten Solar concludes new contracts for, without any extra charge, beginning from today, February 1, onwards. This service will provide compensation of up to 1.5 million yen for damages to solar power systems in the event of accidental incidents caused by natural disasters and the like over a ten-year period, following their installation. The service will also include “Sympathy Money Compensation,” whereby customers who purchase the system from February 1until March 31, 2013 will be paid up to 50,000 yen in addition to the insurance payments mentioned above. This service will be included for both polycrystalline and monocrystalline solar packages sold by Rakuten Solar. The provision of a damage compensation service by a sales provider for home solar power systems is rare throughout the industry.
Rakuten Solar has also been holding the “Rainy Day Point Campaign,” whereby customers who have previously purchased systems can receive Rakuten Super Points according to the number of rainy days they have had. Starting with this recent inclusion of “Rakuten Solar Home Warranties,” Rakuten Solar will continue striving to further expand its unique line-up of services for customers after they have adopted solar power systems going forward.
