TOKYO – August 8, 2016 – Viber Media Ltd., part of the Rakuten Group and provider of the Viber mobile messaging application, today announced the launch of a free trial of its Viber Out1 calling service in Japan2.
This free trial allows all Viber users in Japan to make free calls from their Viber application to any mobile and landline phone number in Japan3, in addition to the free calls that are offered between Viber users.
Any Viber user in Japan with a Japanese phone number is applicable for this free trial. Each call is limited to a maximum of 10 minutes. Users can call as many times as they want and there are no restrictions on the number of calls per day.
Viber is carrying out the free trial to reduce user calling costs and to give users in Japan the chance to try Viber Out's high quality calling experience.
1 Viber Out is a service that allows Viber users to call mobile phones and landline at low rates. Viber Out rates differ depending on the destination country of the call.
2 International calls are not part of this free trial.
3 Calls cannot be made to certain phone numbers, including the emergency services, such as 110 or 119. Calls will incur data transfer costs. Some calls may display the caller ID depending on the call recipient’s phone network.
