Data Linkage between Rakuten Kirei-do-Navi Service and Terumo “WOMAN℃®” Thermometers Begins

Tokyo, September 2, 2015 – Rakuten, Inc. and Terumo Corporation announced that data linkage between the Rakuten-operated basal body temperature management service “Rakuten Kirei-do-Navi” and Terumo’s “WOMAN℃ W525DZ” thermometer was started on September 1.

The data linkage allows basal body temperature data, which can be recorded by the waterproof WOMAN℃ W525DZ thermometer in roughly 20 seconds, to be transferred to the Rakuten Kirei-do-Navi smartphone app simply by touching the thermometer to a NFC-equipped smartphone^*1 (Android™ 4.0 and higher). Not only does this increase the range of basal thermometers users of the Rakuten Kirei-do-Navi service can choose from, it also means that users of WOMAN℃ W525DZ thermometers can now use the Kirei-do-Navi service to easily graph and monitor their basal temperature and hormone balance on their smartphones.

Rakuten and Terumo have worked on enhancing each service by adding new features that reflect feedback from users, and through cooperation between the two companies they will work to further increase customer convenience and satisfaction.

Rakuten Kirei-do-Navi is a smartphone app for monitoring basal body temperature using measurements from a basal thermometer. By taking basal temperature readings, women can determine their hormonal balance conditions and their most and least fertile times of the month, as well as detect possible gynecological diseases, etc. The app makes it easy to record and monitor basal temperature data, and analyze recorded data. The app also has a Maternity Mode, offering convenient features for pregnant users.

Terumo’s WOMAN℃ W525 series basal thermometers are high-performance women’s thermometers that have been made waterproof in response to user feedback in order to make it easier for users to continue to use them on a daily basis. As the thermometers can be washed in water, they can easily be kept hygienic and clean. The thermometers can also make predictive readings in approximately 20 seconds, automatically store up to 480 days’ worth of data, and can display to users the day on which their next menstrual period will start as well as their ovulation dates and the number of days that have elapsed since the start of their menstrual period.
