TOKYO, February 12, 2014 - Kobo Inc., a subsidiary of Rakuten Inc., today released the Kobo Arc 7 tablet, a tablet with a 7-inch screen for 14,800 yen (incl. consumption tax).
Like Kobo Arc 7HD which has been already available in the market, the Kobo Arc 7 is a reasonably-priced Android device that has the basic functions of a tablet, as well as additional features that make reading pleasurable. Specifically, the “Reading mode” automatically adjusts the screen brightness for optimal reading, and allows the user to focus on reading by switching off email and SNS notifications. In addition, Rakuten Kobo’s unique interface, “Featured Collections ” allows you to save and access not just publications but websites, music, and other content anytime, with ease. As a special feature for the Kobo Arc 7, Gmail™, Facebook, and YouTube™ are preloaded, ideal for first-time tablet customers or for those buying a second tablet. Moreover, the memory can be expanded to 32GB by using an SD card.
Kobo Arc 7 goes on sale today on the Rakuten Ichiba website. As a limited time offer, customers logging in with their Rakuten member ID for the first time on a Kobo Arc 7 by March 25, 2014 will receive back 2% of their purchases on Rakuten Ichiba, Rakuten Books, or Rakuten Kobo in Rakuten Super Points, double the usual 1% (30,000 yen of shopping per month maximum). This offer runs in conjunction with a campaign for Rakuten Super WiFi.
Kobo aims to deliver a more convenient and pleasant reading experience for readers by harnessing its group synergies with Rakuten to offer new services and more features.
