Rakuten’s e-book store to be compatible with dedicated Panasonic e-book device

Rakuten, Inc. (“Rakuten,” Chairman and CEO: Hiroshi Mikitani, Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) has announced to launch a newly established e-book store and commence content distribution services. At launch, store services will be compatible with a dedicated Panasonic e-book device currently under development.

The operation of the newly established e-book store will be based on the joint e-book distribution platform provided by booklista Co., Ltd., which enables users to make use of the service with their Rakuten member ID and to use their Rakuten Super Points to make payments. The users will also be rewarded with points to the value of 1% of the price of the contents purchased.

Just as for Rakuten Ichiba shopping, users will be able to purchase e-books using their Rakuten ID, as well as accumulate and make use of Rakuten Super Points. It is a convenient service that provides great value-for-money;

◆Sale of contents commencement: Beginning of August (scheduled), 2011

◆Features:

1) Advance delivery of popular books

  Certain popular books will be delivered to customers in advance.

2)“Chira Yomi,” allows users to browse the contents of books they are interested in.

Through the “Chira Yomi” (browsing) service, users will be able to browse a part of magazines or books before they purchase them.
