Rakuten Group Celebrates 25th Anniversary at Reception Party!

Rakuten hosted a reception party to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Rakuten Group, welcoming a total of around 1,500 guests including government officials, representatives from foreign embassies in Japan, business professionals, and Rakuten Ichiba merchants. The speeches of Mickey and various guests conveyed how hard the founders had to struggle to launch this online shopping mall in the early days of the internet. Many Rakuten employees were also involved in the reception and took the idea of omotenashi (hospitality) to heart in helping to ensure the event's success.
