Rakuten Edy Celebrates 20 Years of Empowering Society

In November 2021, Rakuten Edy celebrated the 20th anniversary since its predecessor was founded in 2001. Starting up 20 years ago with just 40 partner stores as one of the pioneers of cashless payment, Rakuten Edy is now accepted at over 900,000 locations across Japan. RNN spoke with a few of the many members who have made Rakuten Edy into the popular service that it is today, including President Kei Wada and Executive Officer Tomohiko Matsumura.
