Rakuten and 1&1 Partner to Build Europe’s First Fully Virtualized Mobile Network

Rakuten has made three big mobile-related announcements: the start of a long-term partnership with German telecommunications operator 1&1 to build the fourth mobile network in the country; the acquisition of Altiostar Networks; and the launch of new business organization Rakuten Symphony. These strategic moves will allow Rakuten to further strengthen its Rakuten Communications Platform (RCP), and accelerate its initiatives to promote adoption of cloud-native, Open RAN-based mobile networks worldwide.
