Tasty Delights at Rakuten Travel Breakfast Festival 2019

On October 22, 2019, Rakuten Travel held the final stage of its annual Breakfast Festival contest to find the No.1 hotel breakfast in Japan.
This year was the tenth edition, and around 1,340 hotels from across the country entered the contest, with chefs from eight different hotels making it through to the final, where they prepared and served their delicious breakfast dishes. The overall winner, as selected by a panel of culinary professionals and influencers, as well as over 1,000 members of the public, was Atema Kogen Resort Belnatio, from Niigata prefecture, with its offering of mushroom dashi soup with grilled rice ball topped by crab. As well as the grand prize, this dish was also awarded in a public vote as the “breakfast I’d most like to eat.
