Mastermind of Rakuten Securities' MARKETSPEED II

MARKETSPEED is a stock trading tool provided by Rakuten Securities, which was reborn in 2018 as MARKETSPEED II, a new version enhanced with the latest technology. RNN interviewed Takumi Hasegawa, the mastermind behind the development of this new tool.

MARKETSPEED, the predecessor of MARKETSPEED II, had built up a strong reputation in Japan as a cutting-edge trading tool for individual investors since its initial release by Rakuten Securities in 2000. 16 years into its launch, Rakuten Securities embarked on a journey to develop a completely new trading tool.
MARKETSPEED had enjoyed a longstanding position as Japan's leading trading tool, with around 60,000 users trading over 100 billion yen in stocks daily. As such, the project to develop its successor MARKETSPEED II as a next-generation channel for Rakuten Securities was an extremely important one, which attracted much attention both inside and outside the company.
