What are your current responsibilities?
Internally, I am responsible for training the team, attending policy meetings, and coordinating and negotiating with managers and other departments. Externally, I provide consulting services to help increase the sales of my clients. I also suggest strategies for increasing sales and advertising, working closely with clients on a daily basis.
I am careful to prioritize my work in the midst of a wide range of tasks. While identifying tasks in order of delivery date and importance,I proceed with consideration, such as allocating tasks that lead to the growth of each member.
What do you find challenging and exciting about your job?
Within the company, I find it most rewarding to see my team members grow and develop.
There are many times when a person is able to perform tasks that he or she was not able to do six months previously, and they don’t even realize how much they’ve grown. We usually have 1-on-1 meetings to discuss career plans and how they can personally improve, so I’m really happy to witness their development. Achieving our team goals is also a wonderful moment.
Outside the company, I find it particularly rewarding to see our clients grow. Every time I visit a client company, I find the office floor and building growing larger and larger, and I am truly glad that I was able to be a part of it. I often cry for joy with my clients when we achieve a high sales ranking.
What do you feel you have improved since joining Rakuten?
I am now able to work with the mindset of changing Japan and changing the world. When I first joined the company, I was overwhelmed with my daily tasks and sales results, however, right after I joined the company, I got happy and sad about my daily tasks and sales results. In the seven years since I joined the company, I have experienced many things, such as the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles winning the Japan championship, events such as the Rakuten Super Sale, and the establishment of the Rakuten Ichiba smartphone app. Through these experiences, I have learned that Rakuten Ichiba is closely connected to the lives of many people, all of which has broadened my perspective.
In addition, there have been times when my proposals to client companies have led to the birth of hit products. It really motivates me when I can connect my proposals to trends and enrich the lives of clients and users.
