About Rakuten’s Response to the Regions in Western Japan Affected by the Heavy Rains

Tokyo, July 13, 2018 –The Rakuten Group would like to extend its deepest sympathies to those who have been affected by the heavy rains, flooding and landslides in Western Japan. We sincerely wish for the swift recovery of the affected regions.

To support those in the affected regions, the Rakuten Group has been carrying out various activities including gathering donations through its Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund and providing relief supplies to the affected region, details of which can be found below.

All donations received will be delivered to local organizations through the Japanese Red Cross Society.

The Rakuten Group will continue to do all it can to offer support to those affected by the heavy rains and the recovery in the regions.

Donation collection period: July 7, 2018 onwards
Ways to donate:
1. Donate with Rakuten Super Points (Japan only)
Donations can be made from 1 Rakuten Super Point. For every Rakuten Super Point donated, 1 yen will be donated.
2. Donate by credit card
Donations from 100 yen can be made through a Rakuten Card or any Visa or Mastercard brand credit card
3. Donate by Rakuten Bank transfer
Donations can be made through a Rakuten Bank account 24 hours a day. For people without a Rakuten Bank account, donations can be made directly by bank transfer at the following site: https://www.rakuten-bank.co.jp/company/contribution/180709/
Total amount donated: 42,121,605 yen (as of July 12, 2018)

* Donations made through a Rakuten Bank account will not incur a transfer fee
* When donating using a non-Rakuten Card credit card, the processing fee set by the credit card company will be deducted from amount donated.
* Bank transfers made from non-Rakuten Bank accounts will incur a transfer fee set by the bank.
* A receipt will not be issued for donations made through the Rakuten Clutch Special Charity fund. The donations made through the fund are illegible for income tax exemption applied to donations.

How to donate: Donations can be made at the above site by clicking the “Donate” button of the local government you wish to make the donation to. Donations can be made from 1,000 yen. Please note that a gift will not be awarded for donations made through the site. Local governments will not be changed for donations made through the site.

Donation collection activities by the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles
Dates: July 10, July 11.
Locations: July 10: Kirayaka Stadium (Yamagata City)
                  July 11: Rakuten Seimei Park Miyagi (Sendai City)
Total amount donated over the two days: 564,017 yen
* Donations received will be donated to local governments etc. through the Rakuten Clutch Special Charity Fund

Relief supplies sent to the affected areas
1. T-shirts, towels and other supplies have been donated to Kurashiki City in Okayama Prefecture by Rakuten Baseball, Inc.
2. T-shirts, towels and other supplies have been donated by Rakuten Vissel Kobe, Inc.

Volunteer support activities by Rakuten Group employees
1. Employees are able to take special leave in order to volunteer in the affected regions (a maximum of 5 days) 
2. Monetary support for voluntary work carried out by Rakuten employees
