What are your current responsibilities?

As a recruiter for new graduates, I support students who are looking for a job as well as plan and execute proposals to promote the appeal of working at Rakuten.

More specifically, I plan and implement internships and company presentations along with conducting meetings with the students I work with as a recruiter. I also offer events for prospective employees where they can interact with each other, and design and provide English support programs for them before starting the job.

The interesting thing about my job is that I am able to engage in, and take charge of all kinds of projects throughout the year from planning to execution.

What do you find challenging and exciting about your job?

That moment in the job-hunting process when students choose a company with real confidence and satisfaction with my help. I used to be just like them – I think there are many people who feel worried or feel worried or anxious when job-hunting. For those people, I try to help relieving their concerns and anxieties, even if only a little, by sharing my own experiences and a wide range of information. In fact, one time one of the students I was working with told me, “After hearing about your experiences, I was able to clarify my criteria for choosing a company and decided to join Rakuten.” That moment was when I realized how satisfying this job was.

Message to students

I believe that each person has a different career path and choice, so make sure that you find a path that is right for you without being swayed by others.

However, you also can’t expect to be able to figure everything out on your own. In times of uncertainty, I suggest you organize your thoughts by talking with and listening to others. I sincerely hope that you will find a job that you are satisfied with and have no regrets.

I feel that Rakuten is influential in changing society in a positive direction from all angles. If you like to throw yourself into such environments, this company is perfect for you!

I look forward to seeing all of you reading this at the recruitment selection event.

What does your typical workday look like?

The first thing I do when I start work is to check emails, schedules, and to-do lists. Since I am involved in multiple projects, it is important for me to prioritize them on my to-do list. We have a flextime system, so the team morning meeting starts at 11:00, when the core hours begin. My motto is to always speak up in meetings, so I try to keep my eyes peeled regarding projects I am not even officially engaged in.

In the afternoon, I have meetings with students and create proposals for the projects I am responsible for. Holding meetings with students in order to support them until they join the company is also one of the things I most enjoy.

After I have an end-of-the-day meeting with my team and confirm my schedule for the following day, I finish work. I have been working out a lot after work. Ever since we started working remotely, I’ve become much more physically fit.

*At the time of the interview, working remotely was recommended due to the impact of COVID-19.

SCHEDULE

09:15
Start work. I check my emails and schedule for the day, as well as the to-do list I made the day before.
11:00
Team morning meeting. In addition to sharing information, we check the progress of each project and exchange opinions.
12:00
Lunch. I sometimes have an online lunch with team members and colleagues while working remotely.
14:00
Meetings with students I’m working with. I support them by answering their questions and talking with them about their future careers so they are able to enter the company without any concerns.
15:00
Prepare a proposal for a project I am assigned. I try to create materials that are logical and easy for people to understand while including my own ideas.
17:00
Team end-of-the-day meeting. Since we are a large team, we keep track of each member’s work for the next day.
Since we work remotely, I have fewer chances to talk to my team members in person, so I try to stay up to date with what they’re doing during our various meetings.
17:15
Check the next day’s schedule and organize the to-do list.
