Rakuten Group, Inc. (hereinafter “the Company”) announces the following change of Representative Director (additional appointment) which was approved at a Board of Directors meeting held today.
1. Reason for Change (additional appointment)
After working for an automobile manufacturer, Mr. Hyakuno joined the Company in 2007 and contributed to the development and enhancement of the Group Company Division, which oversees the Company’s international businesses, corporate strategies, human resources, and public relations on a Group-wide basis. In addition, he has been overseeing the operation of the Operation Division as COO of the Company from 2016. In March 2021, he was been appointed as Director, Group Executive Vice President of the Company. This time, he is appointed as Representative Director to further strengthen group governance, including the mobile business, accelerate the creation of synergies between each business, increase profitability, and further develop the Group. As a result, representative directors of the Company will be three persons, Hiroshi Mikitani (Representative Director, Chairman, President & CEO), Masayuki Hosaka (Representative Director, Vice Chairman and Executive Officer) and Kentaro Hyakuno (Representative Director, Vice President and Executive Officer).
