Rakuten Ichiba Bids Farewell to its Old Data Server

In June 2016, migration was completed of the database which has been the main database of Rakuten Ichiba since Rakuten was founded in 1997. This was an extremely important project, involving the huge yet delicate task of moving masses of information accumulated over many years to a new database. At the shutdown ceremony for the server, linking the data center facility and Rakuten's headquarters of Rakuten Crimson House, numerous personnel who had been involved in the project witnessed the last moments of the long-serving server. In this video, RNN reports from the scene of the ceremony and introduces the history of this crucial database that has supported Rakuten Ichiba up until now.
