Rakuten R-Point Card to become
“Rakuten Point Card”

Tokyo, November 5, 2015Rakuten, Inc. today announced that it will change the name of its R-Point Card service into Rakuten Point Card. By placing the Rakuten name prominently in the service name, the company hopes to further enhance the awareness of the Rakuten Group’s shared point card service. Users can continue using their R-Point Cards even after the name change.

To commemorate the change in name, starting today, Rakuten will launch a campaign offering a total of 100 million free points. Customers who enter into the campaign and use their Rakuten Point Cards for purchases of a total of 500 yen or more (tax excluded) over the period of a month at affiliated stores will be entered into a draw to win points.

Campaign outline: Customers who enter into the campaign and use their Rakuten Point Cards for purchases of a total of 500 yen or more (tax excluded) over the period of a month at affiliated stores will be entered into a draw that will select 801,100 people each month to receive a prize of points.
Note: People using the current R-Point Card are also eligible for this campaign.
Campaign prizes:
・First prize: 10,000 points (100 people)
・Second prize: 1,000 points (1,000 people)
・Third prize: 10 points (800,000 people)

About Rakuten Point Card
Rakuten Point Card is a service that enables users to earn points by showing the card or barcode displayed on the smartphone app when shopping at affiliated stores or utilizing affiliated services. Like the previous R-Point Card, the Rakuten Point Card is a shared point service, allowing users to earn and use Rakuten Super Points on the various Rakuten Group services, and as of October 2014, at affiliated stores, including convenience stores, department stores, restaurants, and gas stations as well.
