Rakuten Launches Smartphone Ad Delivery App
which Rewards Users with Rakuten Super Points

- Users earn one Rakuten Super Point every time
they view an ad page for five seconds -

Tokyo, July 13, 2015 – Rakuten, Inc. today announced the launch of “Super Point Screen,” an advertisement delivery app for smartphones with which Rakuten members can earn Rakuten Super Points. The app displays advertisements on the lock screen of smartphones, and users earn one Rakuten Super Point for each advertisement they view for 5 seconds*1. The service is available on Android™ smartphones.


After downloading Super Point Screen, advertisements relating to fashion, food, etc. from advertisers on the service will be displayed on the user’s smartphone lock screen, including advertisements for products handled by the Rakuten Group. Users select the advertisement they want to view from the several ones displayed on their lock screen, and if after being redirected to the advertisement page they view the page for five seconds, they can earn one Rakuten Super Point*2.

The launch of the app will be marked with a limited-period promotional campaign in which people who log in to the app for the first time will receive 200 Rakuten Super Points*3. In addition, if a user sends a Friend Invitation Code issued by the app to a friend who then enters the code when they themselves first log in to the app, both the original user and the invited friend will each receive 50 Rakuten Super Points*3.

Rakuten will continue to work on providing appealing new services that will allow Rakuten members to simply and easily earn more Rakuten Super Points.

How to use the app
1. Download Super Point Screen from the Google Play store.
2. Log in to the app using your Rakuten member ID.
3. Register your profile.
4. From your smartphone’s lock screen, search for an advertisement you wish to view by swiping left or right.
5. When you have found an advertisement you wish to view, slide the pointer situated at the bottom of the advertisement screen to the right and unlock the smartphone (if you slide the pointer to the left the normal home screen will display).

6. If after being redirected to the advertisement page you stay on the page for five seconds, you can earn one Rakuten Super Point.

From the app homepage, users can view a list of the advertisements that are currently running. Users can select an advertisement they are interested in from the list on the homepage and visit the advertisement page for five seconds to earn one Rakuten Super Point.

Overview of campaign: When a user shares the Friend Invitation Code issued by the Super Point Screen app with a friend, and the invited friend enters the code when first logging into the app, the invited friend and the user who invited them will both receive 50 Rakuten Super Points*3.


*1 Rakuten Super Points can only be earned the first time a particular advertisement is viewed.
*2 When the smartphone is locked, the smartphone will first display the unlock screen before the user is redirected to the advertisement page.
*3 Rakuten Super Points can be used for a period of six months after they are earned.
