Tokyo, June 22, 2015 - Rakuten, Inc. and Rakuten Group companies have today begun relocating to their new corporate headquarters, “Rakuten Crimson House,” in Futako-Tamagawa in Western Tokyo. At Rakuten Crimson House, Rakuten has introduced new advanced facilities, systems and equipment, and will provide its employees with a range of new benefits to facilitate the further growth of the Rakuten Group.

In 1997, Rakuten started with only six employees. Since then, it has developed into a group that operates in 28 countries and regions around the world with nearly 12,000 employees. As Rakuten’s business expands globally, its growing workplace has transformed into a center of diversity, where people from a wide variety of nationalities and backgrounds work together as one unit. • The unified communication platform has been bolstered with an expanded video conferencing system throughout the office.
• An open office space with a modern design to promote free discussion and stimulate innovative thinking. Standing tables have been placed around the office to create spaces where employees can gather for impromptu meetings.
• All employees will be provided with height-adjustable desks, allowing them to work both standing or seated with the desk at the height of their choice.

In addition, on the occasion of its relocation to Futako-Tamagawa, Rakuten has taken this opportunity to expand its current benefit systems to further support the comfort and well-being of its employees in their working life at the new office.

• In addition to free breakfast and lunch, which was available at the previous headquarters, the two new cafeterias will also provide free dinner and offer an expanded menu to accommodate employees with specific dietary needs.
• A relaxation space which offers massage and other treatments.
• A fully equipped fitness gym and spa, which also provides training support.
• A power-nap space where employees can rest briefly to improve work efficiency.
• A childcare center offering comprehensive children’s education programmes.
