Rakuten Group Now Accepting Disaster Relief Donations for Nepal Earthquake

In addition to online donations through Rakuten Clutch’s Special Charity Fund, donations will also be accepted at Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles and Vissel Kobe match venues

Tokyo, April 28, 2015Rakuten wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to all those adversely affected by the earthquake in Nepal, and expresses its hopes for the swiftest possible recovery in the region.

Rakuten, Inc. today began accepting online donations for disaster relief for the Nepal earthquake through Rakuten Clutch’s Special Charity Fund. From tomorrow, donations will also be accepted at the match venues of Rakuten Group’s professional baseball team, the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, and Japanese professional soccer team, Vissel Kobe. 

Donations can be made to Rakuten Clutch’s Special Charity Fund using Rakuten Group’s various payment systems, and those donating can choose to donate using the method they find most convenient, including Rakuten Super Points, Rakuten Card (credit card), Rakuten Bank (cash transfers), and Rakuten Edy (e-money). All donations with Rakuten Clutch’s Special Charity Fund received will be passed on to the Embassy of Nepal in Japan. Please note that donations are planned to be accepted until June 30.

Donations will also be accepted at sports venues that attract large numbers of baseball and soccer fans. Donations will be accepted at second team games hosted by the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles on April 29  and April 30, and at a first team game on May 1 against the Saitama Seibu Lions at the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles home ground, Rakuten Kobo Stadium Miyagi. Donations will also be accepted at Vissel Kobe’s Meiji Yasuda J1 League 1st Stage Day 8 match against Nagoya Grampus Eight at Vissel Kobe’s home stadium, Noevir Stadium Kobe on April 29.

(1)    Donations through Rakuten Super Points

Terms of Use:
・  Able to donate 50-30,000 Rakuten Super Points at one time
・  A maximum of 100,000 Rakuten Super Points can be used per month, inclusive of shopping and other service point redemptions.
・  If members have chosen to redeem less than 100 super points for donation purposes, they can combine this allotment with a contribution from their Rakuten credit card, to reach the minimum donation of 100 yen.

(2)    Donations through Rakuten Card
One Rakuten Super Point will be converted to one yen

Terms of Use:
- Donations may range from 100 yen up to the credit limit.
- Only Rakuten Cards may be used.

(3)    Donations through Rakuten Bank Cash Transfers
Donations are accepted around the clock through Rakuten Bank accounts. Contributors without Rakuten Bank accounts may also make donations by transferring money directly to a designated account.
