Tokyo, February 24, 2015 - Fusion Communications Corporation, the telecommunications company of the Rakuten Group, today announced that from March 16, 2015, it will begin offering a data SIM service with a 2.1GB high-speed data plan for a monthly fee starting from 900 yen, one of the monthly fees lowest in the industry*1.
As with the other Rakuten Mobile services, the Rakuten Mobile Data SIM is available in a range of plans, starting with the Basic Plan which offers unlimited data transfer at a maximum speed of 200kbps, to the high speed data plans ranging from 2.1GB to 7GB, allowing customers to choose a data plan that most suits their needs. In addition, a new plan which also includes short-messaging-service (SMS) functions, which are used in gaming, communications and other apps for authentication, will also be offered, providing even greater value and convenience.
To mark the launch of the service, a “Rakuten Mobile Data SIM Advanced Purchase Campaign” will be held in the run-up to the launch, from February 24 to March 16. Customers who enter the campaign and make an advanced purchase of a Rakuten Mobile Data SIM will receive a gift of 500 Rakuten Super Points.
Fusion has until now been offering a data SIM service under the “Rakuten Broadband” brand, however, with the start of the Rakuten Mobile Data SIM service, the company will no longer accept new applications for the service (excluding new applications for the “Entry 2! Plan”). Customers using the Rakuten Broadband data SIM service can continue using the service without changing their contract. By providing both talk SIMs and data SIM services under the Rakuten Mobile brand, the company aims to create a service structure that is easier for customers who are considering using the service to understand.
Fusion is committed to continually improving its services to ensure that it meets the needs of its customers.
