TOKYO, April 9, 2014 – Rakuten, Inc. and Livescribe, Inc. today announced an agreement to release the Livescribe 3 smartpen developed by Livescribe on Rakuten’s online bookstore, Rakuten Books. From today, Liverscribe will be selling two models of its Livescribe 3 smartpen: the Livescribe 3 Smartpen APJ-00016, which retails for 19,336 yen (tax included); and the Livescribe 3 Smartpen Pro Edition APJ-00017, which retails for 25,509 yen (tax included).
With the Livescribe 3 smartpen, text or illustrations written on the included notepad are automatically uploaded to an iOS-compatible smartphone or tablet through the Livescribe+ app. Saved memos can be tagged, edited, or searched, making for simple and easy organization. The Livescribe 3 can also convert handwritten notes into digital text and offers a voice recording function. This makes it possible to easily manage many different memos taken during business meetings or other situations using the same app.
Rakuten Books will continue to expand its lineup of products, including those from overseas tech companies, in order to share the convenience and attractiveness of these services with various customer segments, spanning from technology fans to business persons.
