TOKYO, March 27, 2014 - Rakuten Edy, Inc. today announced the launch of a campaign making Rakuten Edy e-money convertible to Rakuten Super Points, and vice-versa.
Starting today, this is a service that enables users to exchange Rakuten Edy e-money and Rakuten Super Points earned for any Rakuten Group services purchased by Rakuten Card or Osaifu-Keitai® mutually,
One Point can be exchanged for one yen’s worth of Edy1, and one yen’s worth of Edy may be exchanged for one Point2. Exchanges can be made from as little as 10 yen units/points up to 25,000 yen/points, up to a monthly limit of 100,000 yen/points.
Rakuten Group is offering this point program to its approximately 90 million members based on Rakuten Super Points which links brick-and-mortar stores and online retailers, both to users of Rakuten Card and Rakuten Edy which allow the earning of Rakuten Super Points in transactions with affiliated retail outlets.
For Rakuten members, the new convertibility of the Rakuten Super Points they have earned with e-money will make them highly convenient universal points. Meanwhile, for affiliated retailers, this is an opportunity to gain new business because they will be able to attract customers from both online and real sectors. The campaign is expected to run from 10:00 A.M. on March 27 until 10:00 A.M. on July 1, 2014.
