VAULT is a video commerce site developed around the business concept of stimulating the latent needs and emotions of consumers, by marketing the unique story and high quality nature of its merchandise through high quality videos. The site will serve as an extension of the VAULT brand e-commerce site in Japan, which originally got its start in the US in 2012 (http://www.shopvault.com/), and will seek to provide authentic video commerce services that have yet to catch on in Japan.
VAULT will be offering a portrait of prominent Japanese musician Yoshiki created by Conrad Leach, an iconic London popular culture artist that has been commissioned to create self portraits of some of the world’s most famous people using his unique take on design, as a one-of-a-kind item to commemorate its pre-opening today. Yoshiki is best known as the leader of Japanese rock band X Japan, but also established himself as a producer and enjoys a passionate fan base around the world. Evidence of this is that his digital album, Yoshiki Classical, distributed online around the world prior to its CD release, which was at the top of the classical album chart on the iTunes Store in 10 different countries. The portrait being sold on VAULT features the signatures of these two internationally renowned artists and comes with admission tickets to a special event featuring Yoshiki, which will be held in Tokyo in October.
Rakuten is currently broadening its relationship with Parco Co., Ltd., which involves Parco’s limited time only online merchant shop on Rakuten Ichiba’s Rakuten Brand Avenue starting today. As part of this partnership, passersby will be able to browse the VAULT site on a tablet device at the event venue located inside Shibuya Parco until October 30. In addition, a special dialogue session only shown at Shibuya Parco involving Conrad Leach and Yoshiki will be played at the event venue.
