Campaign Period: October 9th to October 22nd

TOKYO, October 4, 2013 – Rakuten, Inc. today announced that it will hold the "Rakuten Ichiba Gourmet Selection" campaign to promote popular sweets available via Rakuten's online shopping mall, Rakuten Ichiba, at 27 railway souvenir shops across 18 regions between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations operated by Tokai Kiosk Company, for a 14-day period between  October 9 and  October 22.

The "Rakuten Ichiba Gourmet Selection" campaign will mostly feature products recognized with a first place ranking on Rakuten Ichiba’s sweets rankings. The aim of this campaign is to allow consumers to easily purchase products offered on Rakuten Ichiba, thereby invoking greater interest in online shopping, and helping to expand new customer segments.

To date, Rakuten has been aggressively holding physical events such as the "Rakuten Ichiba Delicious Foods Convention" in collaboration with department stores throughout Japan, to support the growth of sales channels for stores that sell gourmet ingredients, and to raise the visibility of online shopping.

Going forward, Rakuten aims to roll out events that enable consumers to experience the notion of "Shopping is Entertainment!" to connect consumers and Rakuten merchants in Japan both in both online and offline.
