TOKYO, May 17, 2013 – Kobo Inc., a subsidiary of Rakuten Inc. will sell its kobo glo eReader on a Shop Channel program airing on May 20. Operated by Jupiter Shop Channel Co., Ltd., Shop Channel is Japan’s largest television shopping network, with programs airing 24-hours a day, 365-days a year.
In Japan, Kobo has already been selling its lineup of eReaders on the Internet shopping mall Rakuten Ichiba, at major electronics retailers, and bookstores. However, this is the first time Kobo eReaders will be available for purchase on a television shopping network. It is also the first time for Shop Channel to offer an eReader.
The kobo glo eReader will be sold on Shop Channel from 1:00 AM to 2:00 AM on May 20. The Shop Channel’s online partner site “Netto de SHOP” will also begin sales of the Kobo glo eReader from May 20. In the program, a concise and easy-to-understand explanation of the eReader will be provided with product demonstration in the hope to broaden viewer understanding about the unique features of the product and how it can be used.
Going forward, Kobo will continue to expand the number of sales channels. Kobo is committed to providing customers with eReader products that are convenient and easy to use.
