Rakuten Super Points Now Convertible
to Rakuten Edy Electronic Money

- Limited Time Campaign Makes it Possible to Convert
Points and Use Them at Brick-and-Mortar Shops -

TOKYO, May 10, 2013 – Rakuten Edy today announced the start of a limited time campaign that will make it possible to convert Rakuten Super Points into Rakuten Edy electronic money.

Rakuten Super Points are earned whenever customers shop online using any of the Rakuten Group services such as Rakuten Ichiba or Rakuten Travel. The campaign will allow the conversion of Rakuten Super Points into Rakuten Edy electronic money, and is being run as part of an effort by Rakuten to expand the number of services available to Rakuten customers with Rakuten Super Points. Through this campaign, customers will be able to make use of their Rakuten Super Points at any of the approximately 350,000 Rakuten Edy affiliate stores across Japan, including supermarkets and convenience stores.

From an internet research* conducted by Rakuten Edy, 57.6% of customers expressed a wish to use the points they accrue shopping on the internet as electronic money at brick-and-mortar stores. Rakuten is starting the new campaign in light of this strong demand from customers and with the aims of referring customers from the internet to brick-and-mortar shops as well as drawing customers into the Rakuten Ecosystem.

Through this campaign and into the future, Rakuten Edy is committed to continuing efforts towards increasing customer satisfaction and making shopping convenient and fun.
