TOKYO, April 1, 2013 – Kobo Inc. a subsidiary of Rakuten, Inc., is holding a limited-time “Touch And Try” campaign for its kobo glo eReader at 20 hair salons around Tokyo from April 1 to June 30. The salons include those in Ginza, Shinjuku and Omotesando. This is the first time the company has held a Touch And Try campaign at hair salons.
For the campaign period, customers at participating hair salons will be able to enjoy the latest novels, manga comics, and other digital content downloaded to the eReaders. From late April, Kobo plans to offer content written specially for the campaign by popular fashion model Naoko Tokuzawa, as well as other content relevant to women with an interest in fashion and beauty. Furthermore, those who want to try reading an eBook for themselves will be able to download a free Android eReading app using a QR code found at displays set up in each salon.
In conducting the Touch And Try campaign at hair salons frequented by so many women, Kobo Inc. hopes to boost awareness of eBook readers among a group that has yet to fully embrace the technology. The campaign will also serve to promote the Kobo Glo and downloads of the Kobo Android app.
Kobo is committed to working through diverse channels to provide the customers with content they want.
