Rakuten Travel Launches “GO! Japan
-Revitalizing Japan Through Travel-” Initiative

- To Assist Affected Areas 100 Yen Will be Donated for Each Accommodation Booking -

March 25, 2011, Tokyo -- We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences for all who have lost loved ones or whose lives have been dramatically affected by the Tohoku Pacific Offshore Earthquake. We hope and pray for an early recovery for Japan and its people.

Rakuten Travel, Inc., which operates the largest Internet travel website in Japan, “Rakuten Travel,” (“Rakuten Travel,” President: Masashi Okatake, Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) on March 25th launched dual projects to assist victims in areas affected by the Tohoku Pacific Offshore Earthquake under the slogan “GO! Japan -Revitalize Japan through travel-.”

The first project is the Link all hearts in Japan! relief fund program, which donates 100 Yen to the fund for each reservation and completed stay made through Rakuten Travel.  All accommodation packages from around 850 participating lodgings nationwide registered with Rakuten Travel’s domestic accommodation facilities are included in this project.

The second project, titled “East Japan Project,” is a recently launched information page dedicated to providing detailed accommodation information the East Japan area, including disaster-hit areas. The intention is to assist in revitalizing East Japan area by continuously providing information on accommodation facilities that are currently still operating in the area.

Rakuten Travel has been conducting regular safety confirmation checks on accommodation facilities in the East Japan area since the earthquake struck, and we will continue to provide up-to-date safety information. The entire Rakuten Group will continue to do all it can to assist victims, and to pray for the swift recovery of affected areas and seek your continued cooperation with our efforts.

◆Overview: Launch of information page about lodgings still operating in the East Japan area (including facilities that are operating partially)

◆Date of launch: 25 March 2011 (Fri)

◆Target regions: Aomori Prefecture, Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture, Fukushima Prefecture, Ibaraki Prefecture, Tochigi Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, Niigata Prefecture (Total of nine prefectures)
