Rakuten Auction Launches Charity Auctions
to Support People Affected by the Tohoku
Pacific Offshore Earthquake

March 18, 2011, Tokyo -- We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the victims of the Tohoku Pacific Offshore Earthquake that struck Japan on Friday March 11. Our heartfelt condolences go out to all those affected by the disaster, along with their families. We share in the sense of profound loss, and send our sincere wishes for a swift recovery and restoration of the affected region and people.

On Friday, March 18, Rakuten Auction Inc. (“Rakuten Auction,” President and CEO Toru Funaki, Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) launched charity auctions to support people affected by the Tohoku Pacific Offshore Earthquake.

Users are encouraged to participate in these auctions by making a special key word designation to their item when they put it up for sale on Rakuten Auction. By adding the designated key word to their item, 50% of the winning bid will be automatically donated to a relief fund through Rakuten Auction.

Rakuten Auction will continue to do all it can to support the reconstruction of the affected areas and humanitarian efforts to benefit the people in these regions.

When an item with the designated keyword is successfully bid for, 50% of the successful bid value will be automatically donated to a special relief fund through Rakuten Auction
