Considerable delivery delays expected for outbound mail items to China and other countries [as of 0:00, February 5]
As outbound mail volumes have increased rapidly since January 27, especially items to China, including Hong Kong and Macao, there have been considerable delays of more than a week in handling outbound mail items at post offices from acceptance to handing them over to airlines. In addition, airline companies have informed us that it takes considerable time for uploading mail items due to suspension of flights to China and other reasons.
Although we are making every effort to improve our operations for processing mail items at post offices, further delivery delays for international mail items can be expected due to expanded suspension of flights to China in the coming weeks.
For these reasons, it would be appreciated if you would kindly understand in advance that delivery requires considerable more time than usual.
The following information is based on notifications from other designated postal operators concerning delivery delays. The situation may change according to the circumstances. Updates will be provided as revised information is received.
