Rakuten has a broad portfolio of global and local e-commerce and other online services that are constantly adapting and improving to cater to our local customer needs and online shopping trends. As we move to strengthen our local offerings with our own platforms and flagship store partners in Taiwan, Mainland China and other markets, we have also made the decision to discontinue the service previously offered here as a global cross-border marketplace site: As of June 1, 2020, 02:00 PM (JST), Rakuten Global Market (Rakuten’s cross-border marketplace service) is no longer available.

However, we will continue to offer Rakuten Global Express (Rakuten’s international delivery service), our official flagship stores on Taiwan Rakuten Ichiba and our partners’ platforms, and Rakuten’s marketplace services in Japan, Taiwan, the U.S., France, and Germany.

Please read the following information carefully for your orders on Rakuten Global Market. We thank you for your patronage of this service over the past 10 years and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.

IMPORTANT: Please note that this service closure only applies to Rakuten Global Market, which is Rakuten’s cross-border marketplace service. Other Rakuten e-commerce services, such as Rakuten Ichiba in Japan, Rakuten Taiwan, Rakuten US, Rakuten France, and Rakuten Germany, will NOT be affected by this change.

Questions About Your Orders

Q1) Can I still place an order on Rakuten Global Market?

A1) Unfortunately, you can no longer place an order on Rakuten Global Market.

Q2) What will happen to the orders that I have already placed?

A2) Our shops will process orders placed on Rakuten Global Market until June 1, 2020, 2PM (JST), and the last shipment date from our shops will be June 15, 2020.
However, due to the current coronavirus situation, some orders may be delayed or canceled.
As for delays in shipment, please check here for further information.

In case your order must be canceled, the shop will notify you by email.

Q3) When will be the last shipment date, and who should I contact if there is any problem with the shipment?

A3) Shops will complete shipment by June 15, 2020, for orders placed on Rakuten Global Market.

Q5) Can I cancel my order after Rakuten Global Market has closed?

A5) Depending on each shop's policies, it may be possible to modify or cancel your orders from your Purchase History
To do so, access your Purchase History and select the order you would like to modify or cancel by clicking “Display Detailed History.” If a red “Change Order” button is displayed, click to modify or cancel your order.

If you are unable to cancel your order through your Purchase History, please contact the shop directly, and remember to provide your order number.

*Cancellation policies vary according to each shop. In most cases, after you confirm your order from the order confirmation e-mail, you will be unable to cancel your order. To view a shop's cancellation policies, please check the shop's information page or contact the shop directly.

You can also visit Rakuten Global Express to use Rakuten's official international delivery service.

Questions about Membership Status

Q7) What will happen to my Rakuten account and membership after Rakuten Global Market has closed?

A7) Your Rakuten account and membership will remain the same and active after Rakuten Global Market has closed.
You will be able to log in for our Rakuten services such as Rakuten Ichiba and Rakuten Global Express.
However, please note that you might be asked to provide additional information (in English or Japanese, depending on the platform) when you first log in.

Q8) I would like to cancel my Rakuten account/membership, what should I do?

A8) Please click here for membership cancellation.
However, please note that once you cancel your account/membership, the following conditions will apply:
- The canceled account will no longer be valid for any Rakuten services.
- All unused Rakuten Points will be deleted.
- Until your cancellation request has been fully processed, you may still receive newsletters from Rakuten.
- All information related to your account will be deleted, including purchase and point history.

Q9) Can I still use my Rakuten Points after Rakuten Global Market has closed?

A9) Yes, you will still be able to use your Rakuten Points across our services such as Rakuten Ichiba and Rakuten Global Express.
However, please note that expiration dates for regular Rakuten Points and limited-time Rakuten Points could vary. Click here to check your latest regular and limited-time points balance and expiration dates.

Questions about Data Management

Q11) How is my data going to be used after Rakuten Global Market has closed?

A11) We will delete all the non-essential browsing history data through the use of Rakuten Global Market after the closure. However, we will continue to process other personal data such as your account information, Rakuten points, and purchase history for the purpose of providing the current ongoing campaigns, customer support, Rakuten ID log-in functionality and Rakuten membership service, preventing fraudulent and illegal activities and complying with legal obligations in accordance with Rakuten, Inc. Privacy Policy.
