Rakuten Drives Change: Used Sports Items Empower Children

In November 2024, Rakuten Group implemented a special Charity Project with Rakuten Rakuma. The initiative aimed to create "A BETTER FUTURE TOGETHER" by effectively utilizing used sports items and leveraging the reach of the Rakuten Rakuma platform.

This project involved selling items generously donated by athletes associated with Rakuten Group for charity on the flea market app "Rakuten Rakuma." A wide array of athletes from various sports fields participated, including Rakuten Eagles players Tatsuki Koja and Hiroto Kobukata, Vissel Kobe players Taisei Miyashiro and Yuya Osako, as well as Blind Soccer® player Futo Nagamori and Golden State Warriors player Stephen Curry.

Prospective buyers submitted their applications through a dedicated special site. From these applicants, selected users were then granted the opportunity to purchase the unique items via "Rakuten Rakuma."

Significantly, all proceeds generated from this project, after deducting shipping and platform fees, were donated directly to NPO AYA. NPO AYA is an organization dedicated to broadening the horizons of children battling illnesses, living with disabilities, and/or requiring medical care, through enriching encounters with sports, art, and culture.

Through the successful execution of this project, Rakuten Group effectively utilized the power of sports to promote initiatives contributing to a sustainable future for everyone, a commitment it will continue to uphold.
