Believing in the Future, the Challenge Continues

On February 7, 2022, Rakuten celebrates its 25th anniversary.

In 1997 they said, "People don't buy things on the Internet."
Rakuten Ichiba began with the idea of making it easy for people,
even smaller local shops, to open their own online store, even if they aren’t tech savvy.

25 years later, Rakuten is still working to create new value – not only in shopping,
but also in a diversity of fields such as travel, finance, mobile communications and sports.

At Rakuten, we believe in the future, and we are committed to creating a sustainable society.

We will continue to contribute to the global community through “Gijutsu” (“technology” in
Japanese) and business innovation, placing value in new ideas over accepted expectations.

Chairman and CEO, Rakuten Group
