Rakuten, Inc. (“Rakuten,” Chairman and CEO: Hiroshi Mikitani, Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) will launch its “Raboo” e-book store on August 10th. Pre-order sales of Panasonic’s dedicated e-book device “UT-PB1,” which is compatible with “Raboo,” commenced today..
“Raboo” is Rakuten's newly established e-book store. The store allows members of the service to employ their Rakuten member ID, including the use of their Rakuten Super Points to make payments. Members will be rewarded for each purchase with points to the value of 1% of the price of the contents purchased. The e-book store is also equipped with the “Chira Yomi” (browsing) function, which allows members to browse through books they are interested in or read sections of popular books before purchasing the books.
There are also plans to distribute contents with the launch of the store, including the digital versions of 2015 nen no denshi shoseki (Takaaki Maehara, Nomura Research Institute; Toyo Keizai, Inc.), Katsuma Kazuyo no bijinesu shikōryoku yōsei seminā (Kazuyo Katsuma; Discover21, Inc.), and 92 Golden Rules of Success (Hiroshi Mikitani; Gentosha Inc.), among others.
Preceding the launch of “Raboo” and release of the “UT-PB1,” pre-order sales of the “UT-PB1” commenced today on Raboo’s dedicated sales website, Panasonic’s online shop “PanaSense,” and the “Panasonic Selection Rakuten Ichiba Store” within Rakuten Ichiba.
