It is the noren which 'some(dye)' meets Japanese folkcraft 'urushi', and was done (a noren). Vermilion is very vivid and individualizes the elegance of the crane.
Urushi is the sap of the urushi (or lacquer)tree. Its scientific name is rhus vernicifera. It is a member of the Anacardiaceae (sumac) family, and is native to China, Korea, Japan, and the eastern Himalayas region. The sap of this tree contains a resin-urushiol, which when exposed to moisture and air, polymerises and becomes a very hard, durable, plastic-like substance, lacquer! Urushi is, in fact, a natural plastic. A similar tree, with similar properties, is found in South-East Asia.
Noren (暖簾) are traditional Japanese fabric dividers, hung between rooms, on walls, in doorways, or in windows. They usually have one or more vertical slits cut from the bottom to nearly the top of the fabric, allowing for easier passage or viewing. Noren are rectangular and come in many different materials, sizes, colors, and patterns.
