Comic market 2010 summer

Comiket (from Comics Market) – is starting from 13th of August 2010 and will last for 3 days.
What is Comiket? It is an enormously huge gathering of independent, self-published manga (Japanese comics) enthusiasts in Tokyo Big Sight. The first event was held way back in 1975, with over 700 participants. Now this annual event has swelled well over 550 thousand people.

The works presented during the event are called doujinshi (同人誌), and they are often the work of amateurs, though some professional artists participate as a way to publish material outside the regular industry. Groups of doujinshi artists refer to themselves as a saakuru (circle). A number of such groups actually consist of a single artist: they are sometimes called kojin saakuru (personal circles).
The event has been gaining attention from fans around the world – reportedly from US, Italy, Brazil, the Netherlands, Spain, Norway and Qatar. And there is an increasing number of international saakuru.

No manga event does not go by without cosplay (costume roleplay) – manga fans dress up as some the manga characters. Comiket is not an exception. Comiket is an amazing plasma of creativity, free spirit and almost religious love of manga.

Our online shopping mall is offering scores of related merchandise, proudly presented on this page. We are planning to attend the event and share with you our discoveries in there through Twitter ( http://www.twitter.com/rakutenglobal ), LIVE!
