Education is entertainment! Starting from Dec 2012, we have started the Rakuten Mobile Library to deliver books to the children of Fukushima

Borrowing Materials

The Rakuten Mobile Library's collection contains over 1200 books and 30 kobo e-readers. Children may borrow books from the Library, and experience the joy of reading at home, by following the instructions.

How to Borrow and Return Books

  • <First-time patrons must register for a Rakuten Mobile Library card>
    Please fill out the library card registration form with your name, age (grade in school), sex, and telephone number.
    For children elementary school age and younger, the card application should include the name and telephone number of a parent or guardian.

    <Borrowing Period>
    Standard: Books must be returned within 2 weeks of check-out.

    <How to Borrow Books>
    ○Regular Books (print books)
    ・On the first visit, once patrons have agreed to the usage policy and registered for a library card they are eligible to borrow up to 5 books at a time (among those, up to 3 can be manga comics).
    ・Subsequent visits
    Patrons must show their card each time they check-out and are limited to 5 books per check-out (among those, up to 3 can be manga comics).

    <Return Policy>
    We request that patrons return the books they have borrowed by the due date using one of the two methods listed below.
    1.Bring the book to the return counter located at the rental location.
    2.Bring the book to the return counter nearest to the rental location on the Rakuten Traveling Library route.

    If circumstances make returning the book by one of the following methods impossible, we request that the book be returned by postal mail (please be aware that shipping costs must be covered by the patron)

How to Borrow and Return e-Book readers

  • We will lend one device to each person, who agreed to our “kobo e-reader registration form”.

    <Return Policy>
    We request that patrons return the e-book readers they have borrowed by the due date using one of the two methods listed below.
    1.Bring the book to the return counter located at the rental location.
    2.Bring the book to the return counter nearest to the rental location on the Rakuten Traveling Library route.
