Educational institutions begin deploying Kobo eReaders

Digital eReaders have been donated to schools throughout Japan to provide new opportunities for secondary school students. With the Kobo, children are able to carry many more titles compared to paper books and have the opportunity to interact with an advanced technological device.

As of June 2013, 26 schools and 2 libraries spanning 26 cities in 14 prefectures have adopted the Kobo eReader Touch. The Japan Ministry of Education's 2008 and 2009 educational guidance report places heavy emphasis on reading as an important path to language acquisition. This is leading to further deployment of Kobo eReaders.
