Voyagin Now Accepting Reservations for Online Experiences for Domestic and International Travelers

TOKYO, JAPAN - March 23, 2021- Voyagin, an online booking platform for travel experiences operated by Rakuten, Inc., today launched a selection of online experiences and tours for travelers from all over the world to enjoy Japan and other destinations from the comfort of their own homes.

This newly launched lineup of online experiences includes English-language tours and activities designed to immerse travelers in Japanese culture, as well as Japanese-language tours of international destinations. With overseas visitors to Japan in mind, Voyagin has prepared a lineup of engaging and entertaining online experiences with a proven track record of popularity, including ninja training, private lessons with a manga artist, tea ceremony, walking tours of old townscapes and more.

Voyagin is also taking reservations for online experiences outside of Japan in Taiwan and New Zealand, with plans to expand the lineup of countries and regions available in the future.

Online tours available in English
Voyagin now offers a full lineup of online experiences that were popular offline destinations as well, including Japanese cultural experiences touching on ninja, samurai and tea ceremony, as well as walking tours of historical townscapes. Going forward, the platform will seek to expand this lineup of online experiences.

Online Lesson with a Kunoichi - Female Musashi Clan Ninja

Duration: 1 hour
Details: Experience one of Voyagin’s most popular and most-reviewed experiences from your screen: Ninja training with Suzak Shibata, the head of the ancient Musashi clan. With a history dating back almost 450 years, this clan served as retainers to shoguns in feudal times. Discover the history of the Shibata clan, fashion weapons from simple household objects like safety pins and paper, and learn a few ninjutsu tactics along the way. The experience includes a ninjutsu performance featuring audience participation.
Price: 3,000 yen per person (tax included)

Online Japanese Manga Drawing Lesson with Artist Nao Yazawa

Host: Manga Vision Corp.
Availability: Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10:30 am-8:30 pm JST
Duration: 90 minutes
Details: Learn to draw manga-style characters from professional artist Nao Yazawa, a guest artist at numerous international manga events and workshops. Yazawa is an instructor at a vocational school where she teaches manga drawing classes. Through these online lessons, participants receive flexible instruction for artists of all skill levels, providing opportunities to learn everything from the basics such as drawing manga characters in various poses, to storyboard creation and more. Voyagin recommends that participants set up two cameras: one to show their face, and another to stream their work, so that the instructor is able to provide feedback in real time.
Price: 7,200 yen per person for groups of 2-6; 12,000 yen for solo participants (tax included)

Online Kyoto Walking Tour with Living Legend Samurai Joe

Availability: Daily, starting at 10:00 am or 2:00 pm JST
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Details: Meet a living legend - “Samurai Joe” Okada, Japan’s self-styled last samurai. With almost 60 years of experience as a guide, Samurai Joe knows the ins and outs of Kyoto. Virtually visit Japanese calligraphy galleries, antique shops, temples, lacquerware specialty stores and more on this online tour of Kyoto, which ends with a demonstration of Samurai Joe’s swordsmanship.
Price: 100,000 yen per group (tax included, up to 100 participants per group)


Online experiences in Japanese
With Taiwan being one of the most popular destinations for Japanese travelers, Voyagin offers live, real-time online tours of the famous Jiufen area, Tainan City and more. The platform also offers online tours of well-known New Zealand destinations on the North Island.
